Okanogan Days 2020 Cancelled due to extended COVID-19 restrictions and concerns
OKANOGAN – It is with genuine sadness that the Board of Directors of the Okanogan Chamber of Commerce voted this afternoon to cancel the 2020 Okanogan Days community celebration and Hoops 4 Hope 3-on-3 Charity Basketball Tournament. Okanogan Days, which is the Chamber’s community celebration that says ‘good bye to spring and hello to summer’ is an increasingly popular event, with a parade, main street vendors, the farmers’ market, children’s activities and the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, Hoops 4 Hope. Over the past few years, community participation in Okanogan Days has increased significantly. With that in mind, we’ve had to be mindful about inviting hundreds of people to celebrate on our streets and in our shops at the same time. After multiple discussions and the Governor’s extension of the ‘Stay Home Stay Healthy Orders’ until at least May 31st, the Board felt it was necessary to cancel this year’s events.
Our hope is that events currently scheduled for later in the summer and fall (Back to School Carnival in the Park and Harvest Fest) will occur as planned. However, the Chamber will have to evaluate conditions closer to those scheduled dates.
